The basic training diet should ensure that it:
- provide sufficient energy and nutrients to meet the demands of training and exercise
- improve adaptation and recovery between training sessions
- Eat a wide variety of foods, such as grains, vegetables (especially green leafy vegetables), fruits, meat, fish, healthy fats and dairy products to ensure that you get the essential vitamins and minerals needed to support overall health and athletic performance.
